Christianity: The Anointed Ones | Part 15

This entry is part 15 of 24 in the series Christians: The Anointed Ones

All Christians are anointed of God. You cannot say you are a Christian, unless you are anointed. The purpose of the anointing of the Holy Spirit is one and the same. It is the advantage given the member of the Church of Christ in the new covenant that which they, of the old covenant, never entertained. The Holy Spirit in our lives becomes our director, conscience, stabilizer, and developer. As the old song goes: “if it wasn’t for the Lord, tell me brother, what would I do? If it wasn’t for the Lord, and His wonderful love, I know I would make it, I just couldn’t take it, to heaven up above. If I didn’t know, that He loved me so, I’d have to give up, the way is so rough, wherever I go! If he had not begun, at the request of His Son, to send His Holy Spirit, I be so weak and weary, the race I’d never run.”  The Holy Spirit is the seal, identifying us as belonging to God. Ephesians 1:1 the Holy Spirit is the earnest/guarantee that our obedience warrants the resurrection of our bodies. Ephesians 1:13, the Holy Spirit strengthens us-gives us power in the inward, spiritual man. Ephesians 3:16 and finally, the Holy Spirit becomes our communicator with the Father, Romans 8:26-27. If it wasn’t for the Holy Spirit, we would not have a chance. He enables us to “bear all things, believe all things, endure all things, endure hardness till the end,” as Paul wrote. He is the fertilizer that we have as we are planted in a NEW life, spiritual life that allowing us to be strengthened beyond our might. He is the change agent that causes our old hard-heart, hard like a tree, to soften the shell and loosen up the husk so we can bask in His Son’s love through ceaseless ages. God has given us His Spirit. Like the chlorophyll that produces new life, the Holy Spirit adds, increases our ability, and shines the light along the path that will lead home. And if that were not enough, He puts within us the same “mind that was in Christ Jesus, which brings eternal glory.”

False teachers, in the day of the apostle John were called Anti-Christ. It was one thing you probably could’ve rest assured, they did not see themselves as against the Lord! Some were even miraculous deceivers, yet because this seed remained in those who had heard and obeyed the word of God, we did not fall. The seed of the kingdom is the word of God, Luke 8:4, and as the word of God, in their hearts and minds, as it is ours today, they/we would not listen, but try the spirits to see if it was of God! Each child of God becomes what would be called a “fruit inspector, a judge, a trier of the thoughts and the teachings that they heard.” With the Holy Spirit residing within them as it does us, no man could cause them to the “depart from the living God.” Listening, testing, trying against the written word of God, our delivery from the hands of the evil one is not miraculous, it is providential! If the seed, the word of God, is planted deep in the recesses of minds, we can live the Christian life, and remain faithful on the path of righteousness, and finally “enter into the gates into the city!!” As like has affinity with like, so God would dwell where men were like Him. With His abode in our hearts, we will be like, live like, pray like, and speak like Him who directs our lives!! The blessed presence of God with His people is proclaimed and admired: “I heard a great voice out of heaven, saying, behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.” Revelation 21:4 The presence of God with His church is the glory of the church, it is a matter of wonder that a holy God should ever dwell with any of the children of men. His immediate presence with them, His love manifested to them, and His glory put upon them, will be their/our perfect happiness!! Then and only then will the character of those with whom He has fellowship, on His part, be glory on their part. This new and blessed state will allow us to be free from sorrow, all the effects of sin are done away. In effect, there will be no tears, by reason of sin, of affliction, the calamities of the former life, the tears of the church have been wiped away. We have no more remembrance of former sorrows! So, tell me not that I cannot live the Christian life, I am victorious over sin, and tell me not that I have not been benefited by my Creator and Maker by His Spirit that dwells within me!! For I am one of His anointed, I have been changed, I am new born, now, all of my life has been re-arranged.  What a difference it makes when the Lord comes to stay, in our hearts, oh, yes, we’ve been changed!!
