Christianity: The Anointed Ones | Part 17

This entry is part [part not set] of 24 in the series Christians: The Anointed Ones

The Holy Spirit for the child of God is an unction. Unction was anything smeared on, ointment applied in the inaugural ceremony for priests in the Old Testament as a type. For true Christians, who are the anointed ones, our name intimates as much. We are anointed with the oil of grace, grace being defined as God’s gift of information open to us, through His son. From this grace comes gifts, as the spirit of God makes over our hearts. These were and are spiritual endowments, we who have received the message of the Spirit then bear the results of that message called fruit. The delivering of the message or communication of the Holy Spirit is the application or unction, our anointing. The effect of this unction, comparable to spiritual eye-salve; is that it enlightens and strengthens the eyes of understanding and allows us safe passage on the narrow road to eternal peace with God!! John writes: “and thereby you know all things” (all these things concerning Christ and His religion.) John 14:26: “but the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in My name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said to you.”

We who know the truth, are prepared to defend against what is contrary thereto and inconsistent there with. The line which shows itself to be a straight line shows also what is crooked. Truth and falsehood do not well mix and suit each other. And those of us who are well acquainted with the Christian truth are thereby well fortified against anti-Christian error and delusion. We are commanded to “try the spirits”, try their message, see if they stay within the guidelines of the revealed truth. No lie belongs to Christ, either natural are revealed. The apostles most of all condemned lies, and showed the inconsistency lies had with their doctrine: they would have been the most self-condemned persons had they propagated the truth by lies. It is a commendation of Christian religion that it well affords any inspection by any means, for truth is the foundation of it, contained in each facet of its elements or rudiments. All will know the truth, and the truth will set us free.“ John 8:32

It is sad when men tell you that they know God and yet deny His truth. Again, John writes in 1 John 2:1-6: “and hereby we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He that says, I know Him, and keeps not His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whosoever keeps His word, in him truly is the love of God perfected: and hereby know we that we are in Him.” “He that says he abides in Him also must walk, even as Christ walked.“ There are direct enemies of God for Christ’s sake, that enemy is called by the apostle John as he was inspired by the Holy Spirit to write: an anti-christ. The antichrist denies the witness and testimony of the Father, concerning Jesus Christ, and consequently abandons the knowledge of God in Christ, while all at the same time, professing love for God. These men and women are liars, egregious, opposers of sacred truths: they denied that Jesus is the Christ. These pernicious lies have been spread in the world, were of old, and usually are relating to the person of Christ. God There is no truth so sacred and fully attested but that Jesus of Nazareth was the son of God, attested by heaven, and earth, and hell. Were it not for the clear and concise instruction of the Holy Spirit to the apostles, we would be lost in a maze of confusion and doubt and never know our way to eternal peace with God. That this is true is shown as the apostle advises and persuades the disciples to continue in the old doctrine that was at first communicated to them, 1 John 2:24,  truth is older than error. The truth concerning Christ, that was at first delivered to the saints, is not to be exchanged for the frivolous novelties of man. So sure where the apostles of the truth of that that they had delivered concerning the deity of Christ, that after all their toils and sufferings, they were not willing to relinquish any truth that had been given them by the Holy Spirit. Maintaining this sacred advantage, the instruction of the Holy Spirit that was given by the apostles in the first century, we who participate in adhering to the primitive truth and faith, are never in doubt concerning the truth that has been delivered!! “We know in whom we have believed, and that we are persuaded that He is able to keep that which He has committed unto us, against that day.“
