Is the Holy Spirit being distributed here on the earth, at this time? In Luke 11:13 Jesus said: “if you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the Heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” The question always comes, how do we ask God for the Holy Spirit? Answer-by obeying His word! The way that we obey His word is to follow His commands. His commands are given to quicken the obedient. On the day of Pentecost, when the Jews cried out to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “men and brethren what shall we do?” The answer that followed shows the plan of God had already been made accessible to man by the immediate response that the Holy Spirit gave the apostle Peter, as is recorded by Luke. The answer was “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” They who received the Holy Spirit on that day received what the apostle Paul stated later in Romans the eighth chapter as the “first fruits of the Spirit.” That outpouring of the Holy Spirit is the blessing that God has given to the obedient in the New Testament dispensation. There are many places in the New Testament that the seal of the Holy Spirit is mentioned. 2 Corinthians 1:22; 5:5; Ephesians 1:13; 4:30; Galatians 5:22-23; Revelation 7:3-9. As has already been mentioned, this shows that the Holy Spirit was a gift that God intended to use as the means to identify we that are His by our obedience to His commands.
In the book of Acts 5:32, the apostle Peter is on record as stating “the Holy Spirit is given to all them that obey Him.” The Holy Spirit is a gift from God, He is deity that is sent to reside in the heart of we who have been forgiven of sin, a place prepared because of obedience to the gospel because of the cleaning of our spiritual house by the blood of Christ, our heart, is a place now God has residency, through which He can direct our lives. The Holy Spirit then truly sits on the throne room of our heart. Sitting here He is able to bless us in a way that only God could have made happen. He speaks to God on our behalf!! In the book of Romans the eighth chapter and the 27th verse, the apostle Paul writes: “likewise the Spirit also help with our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And He that searches the heart, knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because He maketh intercession for the Saints according to the will of God.” If this were not too wonderful to be true it can only be construed to God from whom this came. What a position that we find ourselves in, when the Holy Spirit has been invited into our hearts to abide. This is beyond our comprehension. Imagine being able to speak to God in God’s language. It is something that all of us have had concerns about when we pray. How can we address deity in a manner that would be acceptable? God the Father has answered the question, He has given us a member of deity as one of the basic ways our needs are expressed to Him. What a beautiful and glorious plan, what a comforting and helpful understanding, to know that we can literally and actually have One who could express on equal terms of communication our hearts to God the Father; but it even gets better than that. The Holy Spirit ask for things we do not know we have need. Asking in that fashion shows that our Christianity is based not only on our obedience to the gospel, which teaches us how to please God and live the Christian life, but also on a fellow-member of deity who expresses those needs in a language that God the Father speaks and prays for things the man in prayer our woman in prayer does not even have an understanding that they need!!
