That the day of Pentecost was the day so many things changed for man is an understatement. One thing that changed is what we are studying. The Lord’s Supper was first partaken IN the Kingdom of Heaven. How and where the brethren got the massive quantities of unleavened bread and fruit of the vine is not important. That the season for reaping this from harvest or plucking the grapes off a tree is known, harvest was some 4 months later. On the command of the Lord, the church was called to assembly, the cry came from Heaven—”Alleuia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth. Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honor to Him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and His wife hath made herself ready….Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb.” Revelation 19:7-9 Do you think a little thing like having enough unleavened bread or fruit of the vine would stop this greatest of celebrations? We who are invited to partake are to be in an attitude of joy and rejoicing—partaking to give honor, reverence, and acclaim to the One who had climbed had tread the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.” He had entered the ‘strong man’s house’ and lead captivity captive or He had re-claimed those held captive by Satan because nothing had ever been shed, offered, sacrificed that could cause God, the Father to have amnesia to sin!! Now, the blood of the eternal God, when presented before the Father, had fulfilled the promise made in the Garden of Eden—Adam and Eve, Abraham, Sarah, Jacob, David and Bathsheba, Daniel (the list is endless) could again fellowship with the Ancient of Days!!
All the ancients of the dispensations past could not, though, be honored with what the assembly at Pentecost and every congregation of the Churches of Christ-since that time, participate!! We get to brake bread with Heaven’s finest!! Daniel nor David, Noah nor Moses, Job nor Jethro, unborn infants and those who died before accountability could NOT be “eating and drinking—fellowshipping—with Deity, celebrating the end of over 6,000+ years of endeavor. What a reason to rejoice!! Many who have had the privilege to partake having been made apart of “the Kingdom” have overlooked the grandeur and one of the purposes of this invitation!! None but “the many” have been invited to the celebration we all too often take for granted!! Having been placed in His family because of obedience to His grace-plan, Christ invites His “friends” to celebrate WITH HIM!! Never enter a King’s presence with an attitude of complacency, pomp, or worthiness!! We are privileged EVERY first day of the week to meet with our Savior and King around His table. When friends get together they always have as conversation what binds us together, so it is with the friends, saints, children, brothers and sisters of the King, at His request!! We remember, we rejoice, we advocate-declare His victory over death, sin, hell, and the grave!! Never take that lightly or partake in a light-hearted fashion!! Focus the “eyes of your understanding” when you are invited to partake!!
Again, no pope, denominational pastor, demon, angel of a spirit nature, nor one who has started a denomination EVER received this invitation. IF they partook in their assemblies, it would do them no good. The dead don’t eat with the living!! How can one join in on this celebration of which they are not apart, not participated in, did not have enough faith in its founder to “obey from the heart His “form of doctrine”? How can one who is not “born again” eat with the “giver of Life”? As Adam and Eve were driven out of the Garden because they sinned, NO SINNER, no being, who has not been bought, circumcised, granted priesthood, or made peace with God is invited to partake as the lowliest member of the body of Christ, partakes. This supper is only for the Bride!!
